I was intrigued by the second of three documentaries Earth: The Climate Wars featuring Dr Iain Stewart discussing the global warming debate. I managed to catch some of the first programme on Sunday afternoon and was hooked on the subject and had to see the second episode at 9pm.
Having previously seen Channel 4’s documentary “The Great Global Warming Swindle” from 2007, which is very much in favour of the climate change sceptics, i was very interested to see which way the BBC were going to go with this mini-series.
In this second programme Dr Stewart spends time at the climate change conference where it seems even the sceptics are agreeing climate change is a problem. He also looks in detail at how temperature has been tracked over the last 1000 years.
I have looked at both sides of the climate change debate with interest over the last few years, but the time does seem to running out for those denying climate change is happening.
I do believe that we are changing the planet with what we are doing to it, but surely there is a way for us to at least slow down the effects?
With consumers wanting cheaply manufactured, low reliability goods surely we are all guilty of contributing to the problem of climate change? We don’t think twice about buying a £3.99 value toaster, which has been transported all the way from China, to then throw it into landfil after a year when it breaks!
I think we all need to find a solution and set about trying to change our ways, instead of constantly debating back and forth, before its too late!
The last programme in the series is on BBC2 on Sunday 21st September at 9pm.
